Tettra's MCP connection lets you use an AI assistant — like Claude or Codex — to work with your wiki using plain language. Instead of clicking around, you can simply ask your assistant to find an answer, summarize a page, or draft a new one, and it will do it right inside Tettra.
This guide walks you through what it does, how to turn it on, and how to use it.
Once connected, your AI assistant can:
A few important things to know:
The MCP connection needs to be enabled for your team. If you don't see the MCP API Key option (described below), or you see a message that says "MCP access is not enabled for your team," reach out to your account admin or Tettra support to have it turned on. (Available on Scaling plans and up)
Your MCP key is what securely links your AI assistant to your Tettra wiki.
Now copy the install command (or vary it for your provider) and install.
Will the AI change or delete my existing pages?
No. The connection can search, read, and create pages. Created pages are saved as drafts for your review by default.
Can my teammates see what I do through it?
The connection uses your own permissions and account. Drafts and pages you create follow Tettra's normal sharing rules.
I lost my key — can I see it again?
For security, generate a new one with Re-generate MCP Key and update your AI client with the new key.
