Invite-Only Categories
Invite-Only categories are available on the Scaling and Professional plans. Learn more about our plans here.
When you want more control over who can see and edit which Tettra pages, using an invite-only category will allow you to share work with only a select few team members, or have a category visible to you. By default, all categories are visible to all your teammates by default unless you change the category viewing permissions.
While the contents of invite-only categories are not visible in Tettra, the contents are visible to admins if they request an export of all data.
Page permissions for who can view what are set at the category level. When a new page or subcategory is created, it will inherit its top-level category's permissions. This About Our Team category contains pages, a link, and a subcategory - all are visible to whoever has access to the category:
Team members or groups who are not invited to the category will not be able to see it in the left sidebar. Content inside that category won't show up in the search results. If they click a link to that content, they'll see a 404 page.
Here's how to make a category invitation-only:
Step 1. The Category
Navigate to the category and click Edit category in the dropdown menu right next to Team visible. (Or create a new category.)
Step 2. The People
In the Category edit menu, scroll to Access level, select "Only certain people,"
Scroll down at the bottom of the page and click Update category to save the changes you made.
Can permissions be set at the subcategory level?
To keep permissions manageable, they can only be set on the top-level category and can't be overridden by the subcategory. If you need to share a page with a specific set of people without inviting them to the entire category, consider creating a new top-level category just beneath the original parent category.
